The three photos we need for your installation quote

Updated October 2026 · 3 min read · PlatyPure team, Melbourne

Quick answer

Take one photo of your water meter from about two metres back, one close-up of the pipe leaving the meter, and one of the wall or spot where you want the system. A fourth photo of the path from the street helps if access is tight.

Every home’s plumbing is a little different. A few photos let us confirm that your job is a standard install and tell our installers exactly what to bring. It takes about two minutes with your phone.

1. Your water meter

Stand about two metres back so we can see the meter and the ground around it. If it’s in a meter box or behind a cover, open it first.

2. The pipe leaving the meter

Get close. We want to see the pipe’s size and what it’s made of: copper, plastic or older galvanised steel.

3. Where you want the system

Show the wall or spot you have in mind, with some space either side. Most systems go on an outside wall near the meter. If there’s no suitable wall, a photo of the fence or ground is just as useful.

Optional: the path from the street

If access is tight, steep or behind a locked gate, a quick photo helps our team plan the day.

Tips for good photos

  • Take them in daylight if you can.
  • Hold the phone steady and tap to focus.
  • Don’t tidy up first. We just need to see the plumbing.

Common questions

Where is my water meter?

Usually near the front boundary, often in the front yard or beside the driveway. In units and townhouses it may be in a shared meter bank.

Can I send photos from my phone?

Yes. The quote form accepts JPG, PNG and HEIC photos up to 15 MB each.

Do you need to visit before quoting?

Not usually. The photos let us confirm a standard install; we’ll call if anything needs a closer look.
